Community resiliency starts with you.

SCOPE supports community resilience so that neighborhoods can be stronger, and safer, when a crisis strikes.

  • 2022 Hurricane ian

  • 2026 wildfires & droughts

“Nearly 1,000 brush fires have ignited across Florida since the start of the year as drought conditions intensify and firefighters brace for what officials warn could be a severe wildfire season. • 2017 Sinkholes

“Seven houses have now been condemned in Land O’Lakes, Fla., thanks to the county’s largest sinkhole in 30 years. Two homes were destroyed when the ground gave way on July 14, but the sinkhole has since expanded and now stretches 260 feet at its widest point. Two more houses along its edge were condemned on Saturday, followed by three on Sunday, according to a Pasco County news release.”

  • 2025 severe flooding

“A 10-minute rainstorm had water completely covering some roads in some parts of South Tampa and Davis Islands Monday morning. In a statement sent to FOX 13, a spokesperson for the City of Tampa writes, ‘We received 2.3 inches of rain in less than 30 minutes, which stormwater engineers characterize as a 100-year event.  That amount of rainfall so quickly is beyond the capacity of any stormwater system.’”
